Frog Pond/Spring
There’s a frog pond (vernal pool) in the woods near our house. Right now it is covered with fallen leaves. It is a place where deer and other animals come to drink, and it never freezes completely:)

Small Acorn to Might Oak
I found this oak sapling growing in the front yard, it must have been planted by a squirrel! I put an acorn and big oak leaf beside it to compare the sizes…it’s amazing how such a giant tree starts off as a small acorn!

Milkweed Pods
It’s nice to see all the milkweed pods still around! Good for the monarchs earlier in the year, now they give off their seed to make more plants…

Amazing Light

Pinecones on the Ground
Some of the pinecones I’ve been seeing hanging high up on the pine trees have now fallen to the ground. This, of course, makes it easier for the chipmunks, squirrels, and other woodland creatures to access them for their winter supply!

Black Squirrel
It’s always fun to watch the squirrels run around, collect acorns, and chase each other! The other day I saw this pretty black squirrel foraging in the leaves, with the sunlight shining off it’s coat:)
