Frozen Moat

We have a ditch that goes around half of our house, I like to call it a moat. After the Christmas deluge it was full of water:

Chickadee Enjoying Suet

Broken Ice

On a walk recently, my mom and I saw some ice on the brook that had started breaking up…which sometimes leads to ice jams:

Uptown there is a nice swinging bridge over the brook. I used to not like how it moved when I was younger, but now it doesn’t bother me:
