Yellowstone-Coyote

One of the many animals I got to see during my time in Yellowstone this Spring was a coyote!

One day, when my friend Lauren and I were traveling down to Old Faithful, I happened to see this coyote trying to pounce on something:

there was still some snow on and off in May! And this coyote did not get what it was trying for this time around…

Yellowstone-Mammoth Hot Springs

I lived and worked in Mammoth Hot Springs for 5 weeks this Spring, which is located in the upper left (NW) part of Yellowstone. Here are some pics of the terraces (hot springs) there:

Yellowstone-Bighorn Sheep

I didn’t get a chance to see any male big horn sheep, but I did see a couple of females eating on the side of the road:

Yellowstone-Ground Squirrels

These little guys were everywhere! Ground squirrels, also known as ‘whistle pigs’ because of the sounds they make, have tons of tunnels and holes everywhere:

I also saw these ravens eating a whistle pig!

Yellowstone-Elk

Elk are another prominent animal in Yellowstone. They were just starting to come to Mammoth before I left and having babies!

it’s good to stay at least 75 yards away from the animals!

This guy is apparently a troublemaker…Number 24..but he looked pretty peaceful:)
